This privacy policy applies to our application named Barabara, and its associated subdomain. By accessing or using our, you signify that you have read, understood, and agree to our collection, storage, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service.

  • Company: When this policy mentions (“Company”, ”we”, ”us”,) it refers to Roads Fund Board that is responsible for your information under this Privacy Policy.
  • Country: Where Barabara or the developers of Barabara are based, in this case is Tanzania
  • Device: Any internet connected device such as a phone, tablet or any other device that can be used to visit Barabara.

Automatically Collected Information

Location Information: We collect and use precise location from your device with your permission when you choose to use location-related features. We use your location information in order to know the exactly area where there is road damage. This also will enable engineers to evaluate damaged roads by accessing GPS coordinates via google map before going to the field.


Camera and Photo Information

Barabara uses your device camera with your permission to allow you to capture photos (and/or videos, if applicable) as evidence when reporting road infrastructure damage. The images you capture may include the road condition and surrounding environment.

We access the camera only when you choose to take a photo/video inside the app (for example, when submitting a report).

The app does not use the camera in the background.

Photos/videos are used for the purpose of creating and verifying road damage reports and supporting maintenance planning and field response.

Depending on how the app works, the photos/videos may be stored temporarily on your device and/or uploaded and stored on authorized Roads Fund Board systems so that engineers can access them for assessment and action.

How Do We Use the Information Collected?

Any of the information we collect from you may be used in one of the following ways

  • To improve roads maintenance work (You are information helps engineers to more effectively respond to the roads damage incidents).
  • To identify the exact location whereby the problem lies including but not limited to region, district or ward.
  • To search for the road from the identified coordinates within the Roads Maintenance and Management System(s).
